MY CREATIVE JOURNEY as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator began with the textile manufacturer Riddle and Cockrell in Burlington, North Carolina. When I heard they were hiring digital artists, I jumped at the opportunity to help produce their diverse product line of throw rugs, wall tapestries, pillows, tote bags, and more.

My next stop was at the Burlington Times-News, where I held a position as a graphic designer in their advertising department. During my time there, I learned to work fast, manage the enormous workload of a daily newspaper, and always meet my deadlines. I also came to realize that graphic design was a good fit for me.

For the past few years, I was part of the marketing team at DEDON, a high-end, luxury, outdoor furniture company in Greensboro, NC. There I had the opportunity to expand my skills as a graphic designer. In a short time, I learned to produce a wide variety of marketing collateral—everything from business cards to product catalogs & price lists.

I've heard it said that the journey is more important than the destination. Having recently arrived at a detour on my journey, I take a moment to reflect on where I've been, and look forward to whatever new adventures may lie ahead at my next stop.

MY CREATIVE JOURNEY as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator began with the textile manufacturer Riddle and Cockrell in Burlington, North Carolina. When I heard they were hiring digital artists, I jumped at the opportunity. Their product line included throw rugs, pillows, tote bags, large wall tapestries, and upholstery patterns. It was a creative and exciting place to work, and although the company no longer exists, I was fortunate to have worked for them during their heyday.

My next stop was at the Burlington Times-News, where I held a position as a graphic designer in their advertising department. During my time there, I learned to work fast, manage the enormous workload of a daily newspaper, and always meet my deadlines. I also came to realize that graphic design was a good fit for me. I’m very grateful to the people at the Times-News for everything they taught me about the print media industry and online advertising.

For the past five years, I was part of the marketing team at DEDON, a high-end, luxury, outdoor furniture company in Greensboro, NC. There I had the opportunity to expand my skills as a graphic designer. In a short time, I learned to produce a wide variety of marketing collateral—everything from business cards to product catalogs & price lists. DEDON is a world-class global company and one of the best places I’ve ever worked.

Over the years, I've developed a passion for digital design work. Computers have evolved into the ultimate artist's tool kits—fully equipped design studios in a box, offering an unlimited range of creative possibilities. They help us expand our ideas and extend what we can achieve.
